New York is getting its own fashion week for dogs. Barkhouse, the design‑led dog daycare that opened in Chelsea in 2025, is staging Dog Fashion Week from September 8 to 12, culminating in a ticketed runway show called the Dogwalk Fashion Show, presented by Fetch Pet Insurance and Maev.

According to the company, the concept is simple: treat dogs like the style‑conscious clients they are. Over four days, Barkhouse will host daily pop‑ups with four dog‑fashion labels — Little Beast, By Teddy, Pawelier and 1ER — giving members a chance to shop pieces and take part in brand activations inside the daycare. The week closes on September 12 with a 50‑foot runway transformed into a garden set by NYC designer Theresa Rivera.

Rather than solo canine models, the show pairs dogs with their owners, walking looks styled by Gianna Corvino, the vintage dealer behind The NY Archive. The event is designed to feel like a scaled‑down, four‑legged version of NYFW, complete with a charity auction for Muddy Paws Rescue, a Dog Lounge by Lola Blankets, on‑site portraits by Jesse Ditmar, and a Maev‑powered dog bar. Fetch Pet Insurance will also preview its Scarfs for Arfs charity collection.

“New York Fashion Week is one of this city’s most iconic cultural moments,” said Gabriella Desposito‑Carlson, co‑founder of Barkhouse. “We wanted to bring that same energy to the dog community, as a celebration of modern dog parenthood.”

In nine months, Barkhouse has grown to more than 700 members, positioning itself as a clubhouse for Chelsea’s dog parents who want the same design and hospitality standards for their pets that they expect for themselves. Dog Fashion Week is the brand’s way of turning that community into a cultural moment — and proving that, in New York, even the dogs get a front‑row seat.
