Retail

While Juicy Couture might not have quite the level of iconic status it did in the early and mid 2000s people still have it on their must have list. Shoppers are definitely still buying, because Juicy Couture is set to expand globally with a proposed 133 new stores expected to open over the next five years. By 2020 Juicy Couture stores are expected to reach a grand total of 355, including 31 international sites.

Across the globe eight countries are expected to see new stores. South Africa, India, and Azerbaijan will be welcoming Juicy Couture stores to their country for the first time. There are currently 199 Juicy Couture stores overseas, including outlets and shops-in-shop in select department stores across 60 countries.

Juicy Couture’s freestanding stores now carry Juicy Couture Black Label. As of this spring, Juicy Couture stores will be carrying Juicy Couture footwear, a venture done through a partnership with Steve Madden Ltd. Apart from the Juicy Couture brand, the first Juicy Couture girls store will open in Azerbaijan this spring.

Juicy Couture aiming to have over 300 stores globally

In 2013, Authentic Brands Group (ABG) acquired Juicy Couture for what seems like a meager sum of 195 million dollars. Given how ABG is currently seeking to expand Juicy Couture they will certainly be making their Return on Investment if the stores prove to be a success. While the company has not made any mention of whether or not they intend to continue their expansion efforts in the U.S. they are poised to easily become a global force in the next five years.

Juicy Couture was previously owned by Fifth and Pacific Cos. Inc., now Kate Spade & Co., and once they were acquired by ABG they closed all free standing stores they owned. This could be seen as the comeback of Juicy Couture as they reposition themselves in the mid-range luxury market. With the help of their licensing partners, which include Folli Follie Group, Europe, 5; Handsome Corp., South Korea, 4; Walton Brown, Greater China, 15; Majid Al Futtaim, Middle East, 2; Reliance Brands Ltd., India, 1; Surtee Group, South Africa, 1; Novco Group, Azerbaijan, 2, and El Palacio, Mexico, 1 as listed by Women’s Wear Daily they could be set to become a serious retail force to reckon with again in the next 5 years.
