From the runway to the street: Where WGSN x Coloro’s AW28/29 colour palette has been spotted

For AW28/29, WGSN and Coloro have derived a key colour palette of hues that reflect the increasingly intentional choices of consumers seeking out emotional grounding, self-expression and resilience. “Consumers will be navigating the threshold of a new decade, and this sense of liminality informs the palette,” Gemma Riberti, director of colour, materials and finishes at WGSN, said.
While we still have a long way to go until the season is upon us, the key colours have already made their way into the SS27 collections that have just graced the runway, as well as the outfits of fashion week attendees. Here where they were spotted.
Bloodstone
As the anchor shade of the season, Bloodstone reflects both the tension and contradictions of an unpredictable world, and the importance of emotional connection. These contrasts also play a part on the runway, where the colour appeared across fluctuating forms. What is a common denominator is the fluidity that is evident throughout almost every silhouette the hue inhabits. From loosely tailored suiting in menswear to extreme forms of drapery in womenswear, Bloodstone’s intensity could be felt across the board.

Liminal Yellow
For WGSN, Liminal Yellow represents an “in-between” of two shades and two states, expressing both a warm familiarity and a slightly unsettling quality. The ‘not quite yellow’ serves as a counterpoint to sensory overstimulation and addresses digital fatigue, offering a somewhat calming perspective that appeals across aesthetics. In womenswear, the hue appeared in more structured forms of draping, while in mens, shirting and denim bore the tone. Its appearance among accessories was more obscure and surprising, showing up in oversized gloves, knee-high trainers and oversized bags.

Elemental Verdigris
Sitting between grey and blue, Elemental Verdigris looks to address the desire for calm in an overstimulating world. It's a characteristic that allows the colour to soften even the most structured shapes, mellowing out rigidity and giving pieces a gentle appearance. WGSN suggests that the colour aligns with the consumer sentiment towards longevity and quality, something that stands out particularly among the prevalence of tactile accessories seen in the hue.

Healing Turmeric
Unlike Liminal Yellow, Healing Turmeric is a stronger shade that merges with an orange tint to drive confidence and a desire for optimism. Such a powerful colour stood strong on the runways. In womenswear, it was the surprising choice for occasionwear, present across flashy gowns that were either silky and draped or held an unyielding structure. In contrast, albeit maintaining its conspicuous appearance, menswear looks in the colour were largely co-ord sets, meaning the vibrant shade dominated head-to-toe.

Smoky Amethyst
One thing about this shade, and the way WGSN has presented it, is that it appears to fluidly move between dark and light. The dusky purple evokes a sense of spirituality and sanctuary, making it ideal for explorations of escapism. One thing to note is that while this amethyst variant was indeed prominent on a broad scale, its presence was particularly notable in accessories, specifically of the snakeskin variety. From bags to shoes, it seems this illusive purple was destined for the animal print.
