Alo steps up China push with Zhangyuan pop-up in Shanghai

Alo has officially landed in China, opening its Zhangyuan pop-up in Shanghai on Monday. The space marks the Los Angeles-based brand's first physical retail investment in Mainland China.

“Opening in Shanghai is an incredibly meaningful moment for Alo. We wanted Zhangyuan to be a full expression of the brand and our belief that luxury is about how you live and how you feel. It’s more than a place to shop—it’s a place to move, reset and connect, and to experience the full Alo world,” Summer Nacewicz, Alo’s EVP of marketing and creative, said in a statement.

The Zhangyuan pop-up features three floors and exterior courtyards, connecting retail with movement, wellness and community, according to the brand. The space is described as “a calm, welcoming environment that reflects the brand’s Air, Land, Ocean roots.”

“Bringing our California roots together with the creative energy of Shanghai has created something that feels distinctly Alo, while also having a real sense of place,” Nacewicz said.

The pop-up will officially open to the public on Thursday. Besides featuring an assortment of women’s and men’s apparel, footwear and accessories, the pop-up will also offer bespoke wellness experiences by invitation only, including one-on-one personal training, massage therapy, sound healing and meditation.

Alo has announced plans to launch eight additional stores in China across seven cities: Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong, Macao, Shenzhen, Hangzhou and Chengdu. In August, the brand also launched its Official Tmall Flagship Store online and WeChat e-commerce Mini Program, expanding its presence in the Asian market.
