The online retail market of Japan has gradually increased. Recently, the Ecommerce Foundation released a new B2C Ecommerce Country Report on the state of e-commerce in Japan and what’s changed over time. The report, which recently went live, shows the steady increase of Japan’s e-commerce shoppers.

The report (powered by Ingenico, Asendia, Webhelp, and MarketShare) shows facts and figures about the online retail market in Japan. From 2014 to 2015, the amount Japanese shoppers spent online increased from 1,417 dollars to 1,488 dollars. The growth, although at a slow rate, is still continual over the years. The report shows that 100.3 million people use the Internet and 76.9 million of those people use it for shopping purposes. This means that roughly 77 percent of Internet users are online shoppers. Also, the demographic of these shoppers ranges, but the report showed that most e-commerce users were over the age of 55 years. The report showed that clothing is the leading product group as far as online services.

As this information comes to light, the research shows that the Japanese online market is continuing to grow. Through e-commerce, the shopping base has gotten bigger by the overall amount spent. Also, more than 75 percent of online users are using the internet for retail purposes. The report was created by the Ecommerce Foundation, which specializes on publishing detailed information on the e-commerce market of specific countries. The foundation’s next report will be released this September 15 and will cover China’s B2C e-commerce figures.
