Italian fashion brand Fiorucci has changed hands. Lingerie expert Janie Schaffer – former CEO at Victoria´s Secret – has announced the acquisition of the brand from Japanese Itochu.

As reported by ‘The Sunday Times’, the deal has been negotiated over a couple of months, with the transaction been finalised back in June, when Elio Fiorucci, founder of the house, but no longer owner of the brand, was still alive. The designer died on July, 20.

Schaffer and her husband want to relaunch the brand as soon as next year, by re-interpreting iconic garments of the brand, such as the quintessentially Fiourucci stretch jeans and coloured t-shirts with the angels that made the fashion brand quite successful in the Seventies.

Late Fiorucci founder, Elio Fiorucci, sold the company to Edwin in the Nineties. Since then, the company has attempted to revive its vibe, counting with Naomi Campbell as its best ambassador as they re-launched in 2011 with Ittieree as partners.

Soon after, Edwin sold the business to Itochu together with the Mila Schon brand, but the new owner was not able to find a new licensee after the end of the contract with Albisetti.
