London - Stella McCartney is reportedly launching a menswear line later this year, with the first collection available for the spring summer 2017 season, to be shown during men's fashion week in June.

According to WWD, the expansion of the label is a natural progression after McCartney launched childrenswear in 2010.

McCartney is well known for her ethical fashion credentials

McCartney founded her label in 2001 with the backing of Kering, then called PPR. McCartney has since become a global player in the fashion arena, and her label is famous for its ethical and ecological credentials.

For many it will seem a shrewd business decision as fashion houses are opening more and more menswear stores to meet an expanding consumer market that has seen exceptional growth in the last few years.

What can the customer expect from the Stella McCartney men's collection? A clothing range that is ecological and ethically-sourced - the designer has even banned leather from her collections - as well as an on-trend menswear look that will be just as desirable as her sporty luxe ready-to-wear collections.

This is not McCartney's first foray into menswear, as she apprenticed to her father’s (Sir Paul McCartney) tailor, Edward Sexton, on Savile Row.

Since then, in addition to ready-to-wear, Stella has partnered with adidas for a series of athleisure collections, which have been seen both commercial and creative successes.
