It is always important to keep your eye on the upcoming crop of designers. After all, these could be the designers one day taking the helm of some of the most iconic brands in the world, such as Ralph Lauren, Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, and Diane von Furstenburg. One of the major rising stars to watch right now is Charles Youssef, who is working on growing what is turning into a very successful fashion line.

Youssef has a resumé that many young fashion designers would kill for. He received his undergraduate degree in fashion design from Parsons, and then went on to get an M.A. in women’s wear design from Central Saint Martins in London. With an educational pedigree that would make even some of the world’s top designers jealous, Youssef made his New York Fashion Week debut last season to critical acclaim.

Designer Charles Youssef is rising to fashion stardom

Nothing less than high praise was to be expected from a man who has held senior design positions at Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, and Gareth Pugh. Even his job history is enough to make most young designers green with envy. If his resumé history isn’t making you hate yourself right now, he gets even more impressive. The designer recently gave a fall 2015 presentation on Wednesday, February 11th, 2015, which reminded the industry of why they started to love him in the first place.

The well-educated and brilliant designer gave us a collection that was all about the geometry. There were zig-zags used as stripes on skirts, abstract lines on dresses, and boxy sweaters and jackets, and with the boyfriend cuts being a big trend still the boxy cuts were actually a smart choice. Youssef is also all about exploring different architectural shapes, every designer has a certain niche to their aesthetic, and his appears to be in architecture and geometry. In the latest round of Barneys buyers selections, Youssef has been picked up as an exclusive.

Barneys is a dream come true for many young designers, and one of the many steps in Youssef trying to land himself among the designer elite. In addition to his new account with Barneys, Youssef is also building up the staff for his team. He has hired new members for his PR and corporate sales teams, and has partnered with consultant Yasmin Sewell in Paris. Sewell might not be a household name, but she is one of the most sought after retail and fashion consultants in the entire industry. Some of her clients include Chloé, Hermès, Mulberry, and Maje, and that’s just to name a few. She’s a lady that knows a lot about luxury, and if someone can help steer Charles Youssef in the right direction it is her.

His inspiration for his collections is none other than moody girl and stylist, Kate Foley, hence why Youssef also loves black. With all the right people on his side Youssef is slowly taking the New York fashion scene by storm, and is poised to slowly make his way towards international stardom as well. His fall collection is sure to catapult him towards international attention, so it’s all just a matter of where he will show up next. He’s certainly one to keep on the radar, his work speaks for itself.
