The 330 employees at French fashion house Lanvin have come together to take stand against the explosive exit of Alber Elbaz, who acted as the label’s creative director for 14 years. The label’s workers council is demanding Lanvin’s majority-share owner Shaw-Lan Wang, who reportedly pushed out the creative director from his role, return to Paris and hear their concerns regarding Elbaz’s exit and bring him back, according to WWD.

The worker body is also considering taking legal recourse with the Paris commercial court to mediate its standpoint against the management’s decision to out Elbaz. Council representatives shared details of the company’s rebel during a broadcast on French radio channel RTL. The news comes after employees at Lanvin were told of Elbaz’s expulsion on Wednesday - an announcement that was met with shock and tears according to an unnamed employee and led to chants of “Alber, Alber, Alber.”

Elbaz surprise exit from the French fashion house came after disagreements between the designer, Wang and Lanvin’s CEO Michele Huiban. Elbaz has yet to comment on his next move, but many sources speculate he could be Raf Simons successor at Christian Dior.
