Jason Wu has made quite a name for himself in the fashion industry. Ever since he dressed First Lady Michelle Obama, he has seen a meteoric rise to stardom. Recently, the designer even entered the realm of advanced contemporary with his new Grey Jason Wu label. He also constantly make's waves as the women's designer for Hugo Boss.

The designer's runway show on Friday night reminded us why we fell in love with him in the first place.

Wu found his inspiration for his collection in nature, giving us looks that would be the envy of both every woman in the workplace as well as every lady on the red carpet. Two of the most notable looks included a navy wool and electric blue double-breasted, an organza dress with appliqued flowers.

There is no question that Wu brought the luxury this season. To do so, he made sure that he really invested in every look. While some designers try to send over 50 looks down the runway, Wu wasn't about doing things to over the top this season.

He even cut the guest list in half from over 500 attendees last season, to a more intimate 250.

Wu, who counts Saks as one of his top retail partners, gave buyers just enough to choose from. While buyers are often saturated with too much to choose from in some cases, with some pieces designers send down the runway getting picked up by almost no one.

It was actually the least number of looks that Wu has ever shown in a collection, but it makes a statement about how he sees the state of luxury: as something that needs to become smaller, more exclusive, and intimate.

With fashion becoming so democratized, this was his way of saying enough is enough.

Perhaps Wu with his sporty, yet feminine and luxurious silhouettes, will be the one to help give us a modern take on vintage glamour. Can we bring the old era fashion ways into 2017? Wu seems to think so.

The international Fashion Week season for women's ready-to-wear kicks off in the month of September, with all eyes set on New York, Paris, London and Milan for next seasons latest trends. For all the women's wear catwalk season must reads, click here.
